Tofu Breast

EURGH! I don't like that title. I was going to change it but couldn't think of anything else AND that is what this recipe is called after all. I've made this dish a lot of times and it is definitely one of my favourite ways to eat Tofu so I thought I would share it with you all in the hope that you'll give it a try too. I actually thought that this came from Every Day Dish, but a quick search on the site tells me that it's actually one of Bryanna's amazing creations. I did try to find the recipe over at Bryanna's site, but alack and alas I could not. Unfortunately it's not the easiest of sites to navigate is it. Bryanna - if you're reading this - let me redesign your site - I could make it SO much more user friendly. You could pay me with food! (hee hee hee) Anyway, enough with this tom foolery and on to the food.
The recipe for this can be found here with video instructions too!! I served mine with some new spring Potatoes (YUM) and a Salad of Rocket, baby Leaf Spinnach, Beetroot Leaves and Tomatoes all smothered in a dressing of Grapeseed Oil, Mustard, Red Wine Vinegar and Maple Syrup. YUM YUM YUM!

Good griefous! Could Julie Hasson not find a bigger grill?!? Teehee!
Hippy can you get extra firm tofu where you are(?), because I've heard of it a lot on American blogs, but here it is the stuff of myth and legend! And, I have only ever seen silken tofu given a firmness rating to boot (and that only comes in soft or firm here! WTF?). If I could ever find the right tofu for the job then I might actually grow to like the stuff........

That DOES look really good, regardless of the title.

Thanks for sharing. Will try it when I find the time.

this looks like dinner party food, but i have a feeling that you just make good meals every day. my food rarely looks like this!! it's usually bits and pieces of meals all thrown together in a bowl.

The food looks good, but I agree - weird name! How about "Tofu Breast Minus the Dead Chicken?" That's the best I've got!

That looks yum! Most of the time I just have tofu in stir fries. That's a idea to try this way!

Ah yes, the site could use a redesign. Hey, if you could be paid with food it would be a win-win for both of you! :)

I love the tofu chicken breast - and I must have the little potatoes!!

Those look just delicious. And Bryanna is a genius.

Yeah rabbit I am lucky I guess because firm tofu is one thing I can buy here - though it's not cheap by any means.
I'm amazed you can't buy it in Blighty!!

I remember seeing that recipe and thinking it sounded awesome. It looks really good too.

Becks, if you can ever find Taifun tofu, it is firmer than the cauldron tofu - dunno about whether it's extra firm though. I've only ever seen it in Waitrose though, but holland & barret might have it. They sell it online too.

oh yummy, I thought you could buy extra firm tofu everywhere? I think I shall add that recipe to my "must try" list!

i must be the luckiest girl in the world! i live in denver (where denver tofu is made) and they sell an extra firm baked tofu called yaki tofu and it costs about $1.99 for 16 ounces or 454 grams.

maybe you can buy it on line or request your local store order it for you. the site address is www.denvertofu.com.

anyway....how about calling it "save a chicken and eat more tofu breast."

Think it's actually called breast of tofu. Which still sounds gross, so I call them Bryanna's delicious tofu thingies. ;-)

I must have totally imagined the chicken bit then!!

*keep taking them pills*

You said breast! Huh, huh. Sorry, I'll stop channeling a 12 year-old boy now.

LOL!
Shellyfish- you crack me up!!

If you get to redesign the site, maybe you'll get to rename the recipe? I vow to make this on the weekend so I can rave about it also, because it sounds goooooood..... and I have some firm tofu in my refrigerator!

Mmm... can't really go wrong with crispy tofu... YUM!! If you chaps over the pond can't find extra firm it helps the texture to make sure it's completely drained... I've heard freezing and defrosting helps as well! :)

WOah! That is making me really hungry! It looks DELICIOUS!

Hey Jeni! I found another face on the weird rock thing from Yellowstone. Is this the face you see? If it isn't, then it means there is yet another face! Really freaky! :)

aTxVegn said...

I made these years ago and I remember how yummy they are. Yours turned out perfect!

River said...

You are hotsy, girlie! :)

How many faces ARE there on that silly rock? I can't find it!! This could send me to a mental institution. I'll be the "face lady" that looks for faces everywhere but can't find them. Do straight jackets come in extra small?

Tracy said...

If you come cook for me can I pay you in soap? :c)

DJ said...

You said 'breast', har-har!

Jeni Treehugger said...

River - your mentality will be safe from the rock man. I'll send you over where I see my face and then you can get a good nights sleep.
;)

Tracy - you're on!

D.J - LOL!!!
